D.J. Rivera has earned the industry leading Certified Computer Examiner certification granted by The International Society of Computer Forensics Examiners (ISFCE).  He is also an EIT in engineering (State of Florida).  Mr. Rivera is well versed in the acquisition and analysis of digital evidence from any computer media, including but not limited to computer hard drives, laptops, tablet computers, smart phones, memory sticks, CD/DVD, and more.

When it comes to testimony as a computer forensics expert at trial, Mr. Rivera brings excellent qualifications.  Having tried cases as an attorney himself, Mr. Rivera is very familiar with court procedures and expert witness testimony.  He is frequently approached by attorneys for consultation regarding civil and criminal cases involving computer evidence.

Unique Success

Computer forensics does not necessarily require an advanced degree.  Law enforcement personnel often have only a BS degree or lower.  However, superior education and qualifications are extremely important.  D.J. Rivera is one of the few computer forensics experts who not only has an Engineering degree and a Master's Degree, but also a law degree.   In that capacity, D.J. Rivera was the first attorney in the United States to win a technically complex copyright infringement criminal case against the FBI and the Department of Justice.  This was a jury trial with very complex technical issues.  Mr. Rivera's ability to thoroughly understand the technical complexities and to explain them in plain English to the jury was instrumental.  As a forensics expert who may be required to testify in Court, Mr. Rivera can bring this skills into your team and assist other attorneys in complex technology cases.
